A pre-work routine is a great way to get into your stripper persona and hype yourself up before getting to the club & going on the floor.
Whether it's detailed or something you loosely follow, a routine will be a helpful tool for transforming yourself into a bag-getting baddie!
Everybody's pre-work routine will be unique, and that's fine! In no way am I telling you that you even have to have one, but myself and a great deal of the dancers I've worked with really enjoy the ritual of getting ready and having some specific steps we take & things we do while prepping for the club. I've found that sticking with a loose routine and going with the flow of the day to get ready is what helps me loosen up and shake off any pre-work anxieties I've got hanging around. I try to keep my daily activities of work prep roughly the same, so I feel well prepared, but sometimes, I don't do every little step because I'm just not feeling it.
So, what might a pre-work routine look like? Let's take a look.
- Do your best to get a good night's sleep (or day, depending on your last or preferred shift). You want to ensure that you're well rested and ready for the shift, no matter what it might bring.
- Make your bed. Getting one immediate small task done is a great way to start off on a clean, productive note for the day.
- Pick out a few fits. I like to decide what mood I'm in and what makeup I might do with my outfits right away, so I have a vision to focus on while I'm getting ready. Picture yourself in the fit, making money and having fun!
- Shower. If you didn't already at night, or like to take a fresh one before shift, just make sure you're clean and smelling fresh.
- Do your skincare routine. I'm begging y'all, please contact a reputable licensed esthetician and book a consultation to find out what products and steps they recommend for the right skincare routine for you. At this job, your face & skin are some of the first things people will see and form their opinion on about you. You want to stay looking healthy and happy!
- Put on your favorite hype music/favorite podcast/fun movie. Just whatever you can listen to, sing along with or laugh at in the background while getting ready. Trust me it's a total mood booster and makes you feel great! This has also been extremely helpful in getting my mind off of any anxiety I may be having.
- Cleanse your aura/area/work bag. However you do it, I think purifying your energy and the energy of the items you carry with you is critical. Make sure you're not only going into work with a clean, energetic vibe, but one that is uplifting and full of strength as well. Oils, incenses, crystals, meditation and prayer are a few tools/ways you can cleanse.
- Hair & Makeup. Goes without saying but get yourself ready to slay the day and look like your most confident, fierce and sexy self. Not at all saying you need to put 3 hours into your makeup and hair (if you do, that's fine too!) more what I mean is, do the looks that make YOU feel like a badass stripper bitch who is going to dominate the club. Dress for success! If you feel great about your look, it's way easier to confidently make that money.
- Repeat positive affirmations. My previous blog post details several affirmations I like to use for confidence, selling and money. Repeat those or any affirmations of your choosing to yourself aloud or in your head while getting ready. Really focus on setting intention with these words of encouragement to yourself!
- Double check your duffle & purse. Make sure you've got all of your club necessities before you leave the house, so you're not stuck without something you'll really end up needing. Another tip, as soon as you start to run low on a necessity, remember to restock it so you don't run dry in an emergency! Check out one of my other recent blog posts for a list of items I like to keep on me at work!
- Double check weather conditions and transportation. You want to do this basically as soon as you get up. Whether it's booking your Uber/Lyft or ensuring you've got enough time to scrape snow off your car and deal with winter traffic, you want to make sure you're leaving and arriving when you'd like to be.
- Set a goal for the hours worked and money made for this shift. Do your best to last as long as you said you would and make the amount you have envisioned to make. I find that working toward a goal helps me to stay motivated at work and remember why I went in.
Like I said, every routine will be different, and they don't need to be super involved or rigid. Even just a few solid and crucial steps in your daily prep for work can help you get started strong for a day full of success!
